Polycarbophil（Fiberlax）

主要成份是鈣離子和polyacrylic acid cross-linked with divinyl glycol

外包裝：

 適應症：因憩室炎或大腸激躁症引起的便秘。

使用方式：

Take this medication by mouth, usually 1-4 times daily or as directed by your doctor.

口服，依據醫師指示，大約每天1-4次，需要時給1Gm，有時候會30分鐘給一次，但是一天不可以超過6Gm

If you are taking chewable tablets, chew each tablet thoroughly before swallowing.

如果你拿到的是咀嚼錠，那一定要先咀嚼。

Take each dose with at least 8 ounces (240 milliliters) of water or other liquid.

每次服藥至少要喝下240cc的水（也就是8盎司）

Do not take for more than 7 days unless directed to do so by your doctor.

 除非醫師指示，不然不要連續服用超過七貪。

兒童6-12歲劑量：

需要時給予500mg，每天約1-3次，如果是每30分鐘給一次時，一天不要超過3Gm

兒童2-6歲劑量：

每次500mg，一天約1-2次，每天不超過1.5Gm。

機轉：

Calcium polycarbophil is a bulk-forming laxative（增量緩瀉劑） that relieves constipation to help restore and regulate normal bowel movement。

解釋詳細一點：

 Calcium polycarbophil is a hydrophilic, polyacrylic resin which has a marked capacity for binding water. Its use as an intestinal hydrosorptive agent is based on calcium polycarbophil's ability to absorb 60 times its original weight in water. The drug is not absorbed and is metabolically inert。

The basis for utilizing calcium polycarbophil in both diarrhea and constipation is due to its modifying effects of fecal consistency. In the treatment of diarrhea, calcium polycarbophil absorbs free fecal water, forming a gel and producing formed stools. As a bulk laxative, it retains free water within the lumen (increasing luminal pressure, increased peristalsis and a decreased transit time) and produces formed stools

特別注意：

Calcium polycarbophil 每錠含鈣量高達150毫克 (在美國，成人建議鈣的攝取量為每日1000 到1300毫克。)，須注意是否對某些特定患者會造成高血鈣的危險。也曾經有吸入乾粉劑型，導致氣管痙攣的案例。 

當然，因為還有鈣離子，所以跟四環素類以及quinolone類藥物要避開使用使間。
